Tis’ the season for green decor, green beer and green….Jell-O shots?
Tis’ the season for green decor, green beer and green….Jell-O shots? Well, kind of. I found the cutest recipe and I just had to make them…they are called pot of gold shots. I wanted to give party-goers a couple of options, so I decided to make some gold, like the recipe calls for, with whiskey in them, and some green, sans alcohol. Then you slap on some cool whip, gold sprinkles, and rainbow candies and you have the cutest, festive shots for your St. Patty’s Day shindig.
Note: You can use whatever alcohol you prefer, the whiskey just gives the yellow jell-o a nice, gold coloring to resemble a pot of gold.
Ingredients
- 1 package lemon Jell-O (found at Fry’s)
- 1 package lime Jell-O (found at Fry’s)
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 1/2 c. cold Jameson whiskey (found at Total Wine for a better price)
- 1 container Cool Whip (8 oz) (found at Fry’s)
- Gold sprinkles (found at Fry’s)
- 16 rainbow candy belts, each about 1” long (found at party city along with decor)
Directions
Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Once boiling, add yellow Jell-O mix, stirring until dissolved. Then turn off heat and let cool. Stir in ½ cup COLD water and ½ cup COLD whiskey. Once stirred together, evenly pour the liquid into plastic shot glasses. Refrigerate until set, about 1+ hours. Now for the fun part…remove from refrigerator, top with a spoonful of Cool Whip, add yellow sprinkles and top with a rainbow candy. Then serve!
I took these over to my friends house to try them out and see the reaction I got, and they loved them! Across the board, they were a hit. Besides…who can say no to a jell-o shot?
Bottoms up.
