Lutheran Social Services is Making an Impact.
Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest has been stabilizing lives, building foundations for individuals and families, and preserving dignity for vulnerable people of central and southern AZ for 50 years! Founded by congregations in 1970 as a separate nonprofit organization, LSS-SW serves all people, focusing on individuals unable to meet their basic needs and those fleeing humanitarian crisis. Recently volunteers and professional staff expanded the Interfaith Homeless Emergency Program to the Northwest Valley. It is the first overnight shelter in the region. They welcome volunteers in all aspects of their program, providing support to people who are homeless through meal preparation, working in the food pantry, assisting people with utility assistance, advocating for policies that support those in need, providing mentorship and friendship to refugees, and doing support work.
