Michael Barnard, the show’s director has a deep passion for this musical. He was intent on updating the production to make it relevant for today’s audience.
West Side Story tells the tale of star-crossed lovers and rival gangs. The Jets and the Sharks deal with many social problems that ring true today including violence, discrimination, immigration, and racism.
Phoenix Theatre audiences will be captivated by the contemporary Romeo and Juliet story. The show is full of action-packed choreography including several rumbles complete with knives, fists and blood packs.
