Keeping kids from going hungry, one bag at a time.
Imagine the school week ending and knowing you won’t have much to eat, if anything at all, until you return on Monday? That’s the reality faced by thousands of Phoenix-area children. Bags of Hope, delivered to schools by local non-profit Kitchen on the Street, provide these kids with weekend meals and snacks to ensure they have something nutritious to eat over the weekend. Each year, during baseball season, the Arizona Diamondbacks and UnitedHealthcare partner to pack Bags of Hope for children, a total of 49,000 weekend meals per year at three packing parties throughout the season. This is the seventh year the groups have worked together on this project, to date packing a total 257,000 meals for Phoenix children in need.
