The show shared the news on Twitter, writing, “We are deeply saddened to hear Evie Clair’s father passed away last night. Our hearts are with Evie & her family during this difficult time.”

Clair, 13, has been open about her dad’s battle with cancer since she auditioned for the show. She revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

During her first performance, she chose to sing the song “Arms” and told the judges

When my dad is having rough days, I go up to his room and sing this song to help him feel better and just give him comfort and strength to continue fighting.

Evie’s mom Hillary revealed on Tuesday that Amos was on life support. After the ‘AGT’ results show on Wednesday, Evie and Hillary flew back to Arizona to be with Amos and the rest of the family. On Thursday, they made the impossible decision to remove him from life support. “[The children] agreed with tear filled eyes,” Hillary wrote. “We gave them each time alone with dad before turning off life-sustaining machines.” She continued

We watched him take his last breaths as he continued to breathe for about 15 minutes on his own. The children burst into tears but are now at home laughing at old home movies of daddy and remembering our great love for the most wonderful man any of us have ever known.

After her dad passed away, Clair tweeted, “I will forever miss my sweet Daddy and cherish the last few moments I had with him, holding his hand, before the end. Love you lots!”

We had the incredible opportunity to meet Evie and her family when they visited AZTV after Evie was awarded our ‘Arizona Golden Rule Student of the Month.’

We are deeply saddened by the news and our hearts go out to Evie and her family during this very difficult time.
