Kazakhstan recently changed its visa application process to allow visa-free entry for tourists coming from 10 countries around the world. According to EdgeKz, a leading Kazakhstan lifestyle magazine, the changes are designed to make visiting this Central Asian nation easier and increase Kazakhstan tourism.
According to a statement released by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visitors from the United States, France, Germany, Korea, Italy, Malaysia, Japan, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be able to enter the country without a visa for visits of up to 15 days. Kazakhstan and the United States already issue 5-year visas to each countrys citizens. It has also been reported that Kazakhstan and South Korea plan to sign an agreement to create visa-free travel between their two countries. Kazakhstans President NursultanNazarbayev stated that the new policy would develop business travel and ties between the countries. The ten nations have been actively investing into the Kazakhstans economy," the President said. RapilZhoshybayev of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that Kazakhstan would also begin working with the 10 countries to ease and expedite the visa process for Kazakh citizens.
Kazakhstan tourism has been developing in the last decade, in a large part, due to the influx of business travelers and expatriates involved in Kazakhstans booming economy. EdgeKz has noted that the number of visitors in the country has continued to grow annually. According to the World Tourism Organization, international inbound tourists (overnight visitors) have increased by 63% between 2009 to 2012. The magazine is confident that the new visa-free policy launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will further develop Kazakhstan tourism and increase visitors.
