SOMERVILLE, Mass., Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Formlabs, a leader in professional desktop 3D printing, announced today that Colin Raney is joining its leadership team to focus on global marketing and customer experience. Raney joins Formlabs from IDEO, the global innovation and design consultancy, where he served as Managing Director of the firm's Boston studio. The move signals Formlabs' ongoing commitment to creating world-class products that seamlessly fuse engineering and design.
"To build the best 3D printer, you need to have the best team, and we're delighted to have Colin joining us," said Natan Linder, Formlabs co-founder. "Colin was an early adopter of the Form 1, and his track-record as a leader in design and product innovation speaks for itself."
Raney brings deep strategic and design experience to the Formlabs team. "I'm excited to join Formlabs at such an important moment in their evolution." said Raney. "We have some really impressive talent developing some remarkable technology. I'm looking forward to helping the company create experiences that empower engineers, designers, and makers all over the world."

Formlabs was founded in 2012 by a trio of designers and engineers from the MIT Media Lab and MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms. The company is reinventing 3D printing with the Form 1+, a high-resolution stereolithographic desktop 3D printer for engineers, designers, and artists.
With its powerful, intuitive, and affordable machines, Formlabs is establishing a new benchmark in professional desktop 3D printing. Formlabs also develops its own suite of high-performance materials for 3D printing, as well as best-in-class 3D-printing software.
