As the energy industry experiences rapid growth, Corra Group seeks to provide more corporate research and background checks to the gas and oil industry and to the trucking companies that are subjected to DOT compliance mandates.

El Segundo, CA (PRWEB) July 16, 2014

The expanding American energy boom has motivated Corra Group to seek ways to better facilitate its Department of Transportation employment screening as trucking companies seek to hire truckers for work in the gas and oil fields. As it has been reported from such venues as Bloomberg and other news sources, with the United States surpassing Saudi Arabia as the worlds largest oil producer, the El Segundo based background screening company sees increased activity among its trucking clients.

There is a rash of activity within the trucking industry as the different companies seek to hire drivers for work in the gas and oil fields, said Gordon Basichis, Corra Group Co-Founder. There is also an expansion in the trucking and transportation industry itself as we see more startups in the business.

All trucking companies and their commercial drivers must comply with the mandates of the Department of Transportation, said Basichis. These mandates include everything in our employment screening trucking package from drug tests to motor vehicle driving records or MVRs. Trucking entities must conduct DOT related employment screening verifications on its new drivers and three years on its current drivers. There is the issue of criminal background checks, physicals, and the prudent review of a drivers previous safety records.

Basichis noted that trucking companies are so busy with their day-to-day operations that often the compliance mandates are in different stages of management. He pointed out that with startup companies, especially; they are not entirely familiar with what guidelines they must follow in order to remain compliant.

We try to help these trucking companies get organized, said Basichis. We offer drug testing, CDL driving records, employment verification, and for the larger companies we offer Fleet Alert, which can tell your managers in real time when your drivers encounter accidents or violations.

There is a lot of churn in the business. Frequent employee turnovers couples with the need for DOT compliance background checks can make for some chaotic situations. But there is also an upside to the demand for hard working employees. We see our trucking clients hire a good many job applicants with previous criminal records. Its a great place for someone with a criminal history to try and make a new start.

Basichis noted that while not every business sector is experiencing an economic upsurge, the energy industry and the related trucking and other ancillary support industries are experiencing a growth period.

There is opportunity in the energy industry, said Basichis. Wed like to see more financial sectors growing this quickly.
