Business consultant from Shippensburg University SBDC to be awarded at America's SBDC Annual Conference for contributions to Pennsylvania SBDC network.
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 16, 2014
The Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) have announced Robin Burtner of the Shippensburg University SBDC as the 2014 State Star for Pennsylvania. Burtner will be awarded during a ceremony at the Americas SBDC Annual Conference in September at the Gaylord Texan Hotel & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.
We are extremely proud to recognize Robin for her work and dedication to small business as our 2014 State Star," said Pennsylvania SBDC State Director Christian Conroy. Robin has proved to be an integral team player at her center and has also contributed greatly to our statewide network, said Conroy.
Burtner has been employed with the Shippensburg University SBDC since its founding in January 2007. She began her career in the role of office manager/budget coordinator and soon after took on the roles and responsibilities of educational programs coordinator and business consultant. Robin is described as the hub of our Center, by Shippensburg SBDC Director, Mike Unruh, who nominated her for the award.
At her SBDC, Burtner plans and presents educational programs, spurs new business formations, generates client capital acquisition and much more. In 2013 alone, Burtners work accounted for 32 percent of her centers deliverable hours recording 42 percent of all capital formation by her clients and 52 percent of all business starts. This year, one of Burtners clients also won the 2014 Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) statewide Student Business Plan Competition. In her nomination, several SBDC clients expressed their gratitude stating that they could not have accomplished their goals without her guidance and support.
Every year, one top performer from each state within the national network of SBDCs is recognized for his or her contributions to his or her SBDC program. Each top performer is awarded the State Star designation for his or her state at Americas SBDC Annual Conference. Employees are chosen for their exemplary performance, making a significant contribution to their state or regional SBDC program, and for showing a strong commitment to small business.
