For the first time ever, Prostate cancer patients can complete a survey describing how their diagnosis changed their lives.

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 16, 2014

Prostate cancer disrupts men's lives in ways that are unimaginable. Now, for the first time ever, a national survey is asking men to describe their experiences regarding life after Prostate Cancer diagnosis. The National Men's Cancer Survivor support and advocacy nonprofit, Malecare Cancer Support, designed and launched this project because so many doctors and caregivers seem clueless on what men diagnosed with prostate cancer are experiencing after their diagnosis.

"There is a presumption that men will navigate cancer treatment and side effects much like any other cancer patient, but, truth is, Prostate Cancer affects men in much different ways than cancers like lung or testicular," says Darryl Mitteldorf, LCSW, Malecare's Executive Director.

The survey can be reached at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/livingwithprostatecancer.

"People think that they know what it means to be made impotent from the prostate cancer surgery, but they don't....I'm glad someone is taking the time to ask," says 59 year old prostate cancer survivor Edward G.

The survey doesn't ask for any identifying information and takes just 5-10 minutes to run through the multiple choice questions.

The results will be used to let doctors and caregivers know the reality of our lives after diagnosis, as well as to understand any differences that guys living alone face compared to guys who are married or partnered. All men diagnosed with Prostate Cancer are encouraged to complete this critical survey.
