Dr. Adam Osenga of NorthEast Chiropractic Center in Fort Wayne is happy to announce their Webster Technique certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). The Webster Technique is a chiropractic analysis and treatment regimen designed to improve nerve flow and function, and to restore healthy, pain-free motion to the patient’s lower back and pelvis. This technique is considered “extremely low force” and is applicable for pregnant women for the relief of lower back pain and pelvic stress associated with pregnancy.
The Webster Technique was developed by Larry Webster, D.C., who also founded the ICPA. This technique was developed with the specific intention of treating a pregnant woman’s symptoms of lower back pain and pelvic stress and as a safe means of restoring pelvic balance and function in pregnant women. A certified chiropractor will establish balance in the patient’s pelvis and thereby reduce pressure on her uterus and the supporting ligaments which bear the strain of the pregnancy. When properly applied, this technique encourages a fetus position that is optimal for delivery by having the mother’s nervous system and pelvis correctly aligned, and in expectant mothers who are in danger of presenting breech, a high success rate has been reported for the Webster Technique turning the baby toward normal, vertex position. In addition to these benefits, the technique is proven successful for women with babies presenting transverse and posterior, and has been successfully used with twins. The Webster Technique can be used to great effect for women pregnant up to 36 weeks. All of this is accomplished by applying the correct Chiropractic treatment to the mother.
Debra Sundahl, chiropractic assistant at NorthEast Chiropractic Center, says, “Dr. Osenga is proud to have achieved the certification for the practice of the Webster Technique by the ICPA, the board founded by the creator of the technique. This achievement is a great example of our continued dedication to the proper care and treatment for our patients who come to us with a variety of specific needs, symptoms and conditions. The addition of the Webster Technique allows us to expand the field of care to more people in need.”
