1st of 3 Free Shows at Music Hall of Williamsburg
BROOKLYN, N.Y., Feb. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing in its tradition of supporting incredible talent, Steve Madden Music kicks off its 2014 live music series with CULTS at Music Hall of Williamsburg, on March 6th at 8pm! This marks the first of three shows Steve Madden Music is presenting in partnership with The Bowery Presents. The Pretty Reckless will headline the second show and a very special surprise guest will headline the third show in the coming months. Traditionally, Steve Madden Music events have been invite-only – these three exclusive shows will be open to the public, with CULTS selling out minutes after it was announced on Ticketmaster.
Since its inception, Steve Madden Music has partnered with some of today's hottest artists like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Neon Trees, and Deap Vally in the infancy of their careers. In the same vein, The Bowery Presents has been a dedicated proponent of true artist development and consistently strives to help artists grow from performing in small rooms to playing sold-out shows at huge venues. Steve Madden is very excited about its latest partnership with CULTS and The Bowery Presents.
CULTS is a NY based band comprised of Medline Follin and Brian Oblivion. CULTS began merely as an apartment hobby, with Brian fiddling with fragments of tunes and Madeline trilling on top. With the immediacy of internet fame, within days of CULTS putting songs online, they were bombarded with fan e-mails, gig offers, and blog coverage. Shortly thereafter came a contract with Columbia Records, music festivals (Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Pitchfork to name a few), and a world tour with stops in cities that included Malmo, Singapore, Buffalo, and Melbourne.
CULTS' sound is unique and offers a wistful and sagacious alternative to the party-style dance music that is currently dominating airwaves. In describing their latest album, Static, Brian states, "Everything today is party, party, dance, dance nonstop. There's room for more moody and introspective dance music. We wanted to make a groovy record." Bowing to influences from both the past and present, CULTS renders provocative music that is setting the trend for future sounds. As such, Steve Madden believes in CULTS' talent and is enthusiastic about sharing the duo's music with its fans.
Music has inspired Steve Madden's designs since he launched the brand in 1990. Today, music is still one of his muses and Steve Madden Music is a natural extension of this inspiration. Madden has built his brand around making fashion forward footwear accessible to all people. By launching a music initiative, Steve takes this design philosophy to a new realm. His trendy audience wants to go out, listen to music, and be in the know. Steve Madden Music plays a role in bringing music to the forefront for consumers, making them aware of the newest must-hear music. CULTS is poised to become a tour de force, and Steve Madden Music is excited to support them.
