Hotel company employees come together to change the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses
GREENBELT, Md., Oct. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Chesapeake Hospitality, one of the country's fastest growing third-party hotel management companies, announced today that the company's employees have raised $60,500 for Give Kids The World (GKTW)-a "storybook" resort where children with life-threatening illnesses and their families are treated to cost-free vacations. Kim Sims, president of Chesapeake Hospitality, made the announcement.
The company's relationship with GKTW was fostered through Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG)'s longstanding support of the charity, which was founded by Florida hotelier Henri Landwirth in 1989. However, enthusiasm for the cause has become a part of the fabric of the Chesapeake Hospitality culture-resonating personally and emotionally with the company's 1600 associates nationwide.

Each Chesapeake-managed hotel nationwide has a GKTW Ambassador, a designated non-management team member who champions fundraising initiatives at their respective properties. Every year, Chesapeake brings all of the ambassadors to the GKTW Village in Florida to volunteer and work the GKTW mission – to fulfill the wishes of the special children and their families who visit, providing them a magical, memorable experience that will live in their hearts for years to come.
