WASHINGTON, March 18, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) announced today that Anthony J. Principi, former Secretary of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, has joined its Honorary Board of Directors.

"It is an understatement to say that it is a true privilege to welcome Secretary Principi to our Honorary Board," said Laurie Fenton Ambrose, LCA President & CEO.  "Not only will Secretary Principi's counsel benefit LCA's overall mission, but the entire lung cancer community will gain enormously as he has consistently shown a deep and sustained commitment to the protection and betterment of others."

Upon returning from Vietnam, Mr. Principi earned his law degree from Seton Hall University and served in the Navy's Judge Advocate General Corps in San Diego, Calif.  In 1980, he was transferred to Washington D.C. as a legislative counsel for the Department of the Navy and later served as Republican chief counsel and staff director of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs.  He also served as Republican chief counsel and staff director of the Senator Committee on Armed Services.
